MIAA Soccer Official Background Check
The Annotated Laws of Massachusetts, Chapter 93, Section 53 requires a background check for all adults working with school children. MIAA handles the background check all sports officials when officials register with MIAA. The process is completely electronic. All high school sports official register with the MIAA every year (for a fee of $10 per sport) and register for the background check every third year (for a fee of $35). Payment must be done with a credit or debit card.
Registration for fall sports officials is planned to begin on July 1st each year. The MIAA is requesting that all Fall sports officials complete the registration by July 31st to allow time for those requesting background checks to complete. The process should take ten minutes or less.
